A bit about The Purple Petal…
How did you get interested in floral design? Flowers have always been a part of my life. My grandmother, a quintessential Southern Belle, was an active member of her local garden club and arranged flowers for her church. I have fond memories of spending time with my grandmother in her orchid house caring for her plants.
One of the last things my grandmother and I did together was to make flower arrangements. My grandmother told me, “it doesn’t need to be just like mine, make it your own.”
Do you have a particular style? I strive to create something distinctive for each client. I love using different textures and impactful color palettes in my designs.
What’s your favorite flower? Hydrangeas – of all colors! I was first introduced to them in South Georgia where my Aunt Lucille had rows of blue hydrangeas wrapped around her in-home beauty parlor.
What do you like about being a florist? I enjoy creating something beautiful for each occasion and seeing how happy it makes people.
Why call it the Purple Petal? Purple is my favorite color and I like the alliteration.
Where do you do your work? I converted part of our over-sized garage in Crestmoor into a floral studio. I think we have the best smelling garage in town!
